Preferable Winter Clothing

Come winter and you feel like a polar bear with all those extra clothing that you need to carry on your person. Dressing up in winters can be easy on you, if you make a smart choice of clothes. People living in extremely cold climes do not rely on one or two very warm clothes. To protect themselves from the cold, they wear a number of comparatively thin clothes, thus creating a few layers. The air that is trapped between the layers does not allow the body heat to escape. Thus, the insulation that it provides keeps a person warm. If the weather gets warmer, you could take off a few layers of clothing, and add some if it gets colder.

How to Clothe Yourself

Experts say that natural fabrics such as cotton and wool are warm and comfortable so long as you do not perspire. Perspiration will make you cold and wet, and uncomfortable too. Certain synthetic fabrics such as Thermax or Capilene that have the property of drawing away the moisture are used as the innermost layer of clothing. The next layer of clothing used should provide warmth and be able to do away with the moisture, as well. Experts suggest the use of fabrics like fleece, Primaloft, and Thermolite. The fabrics you use for the outermost layer should not only provide protection from the elements, but also facilitate ventilation. The outermost clothing should be loose and comfortable in fit.

Keep in mind that all the layers are loose fit. This will allow for trapping of the air. You will feel warmer with the insulation that layers of trapped air provide. You will also need a hat to protect the head from cold. Covering your ears and the head will keep you from catching a cold. Wear a warm pair of socks that could cover your calves too, and boots that comfortably accommodate the thick woolen socks.

Your winter clothing should not only protect you against the elements, but also make you warm and comfortable.

Clothes – The Doorway to Success

Before you meet a guy, talk to him, or get to know him, what normally do you notice about him? His clothes, of course! Appearance is important. You would hesitate to approach a poorly dressed man, but would go ahead and meet a complete stranger, if he is clothed well.

Different surveys conducted on the issue of clothing all point to one thing – the first thing people notice about others is their clothes. How you dress up makes an impact on the world around you. Your being smart is what someone will get to know later, but how smart you look is what precedes that. This is a typical situation in interview scenarios. The interviewer will first measure you up on the basis of how you are dressed. He will get to know you only later when he interacts with you. It is the first impression that counts. You do not get a second chance at making a first impression. Your probability of being hired grows if you are smart not only at your job, but look smart as well. Many company executives reveal that when there is tie between candidates they wish to hire, the better-dressed person gets the final nod.

What you wear on occasions is just as important. It matters what you wear at an interview, at a party, or to church. After all, you cannot wear casuals while appearing for an interview or meeting an important client. You are more likely to lose an important deal because you were not dressed appropriately for the occasion. Most businesspersons interviewed were of the view that they were put off if their counterpart was not properly dressed in his business suit. The business deal more or less fails to materialize when some issue, however trivial, irks one of the parties. So, success in a business deal is governed by meeting of the minds, which can be strengthened by the way you dress up.

What to Wear on a Job Interview

Interviews are important events where all your skills, job knowledge and talents are put to test by an individual or a panel. On such occasions where you are being judged for what you are, you are also being judged for what and how you look. Never undermine the importance of dressing up for an interview. The way you dress up shows whether you mean business, and are serious about winning the job.

When you are dressed appropriately, you convey to your prospective boss that you respect the occasion and take your job seriously. It is best to be conservatively dressed leaving fashionable clothes for some other occasion. The first impression that you create within the first thirty seconds of meeting the interviewer is crucial. Remember that you are being sized up the moment you enter the room and until you take a seat. How you dress conveys a lot during these critical thirty seconds.

What to Wear

•  It is best to wear a suit. The most suitable colors are navy or charcoal gray single-breasted suit.

•  Wear a long sleeve white shirt. Short sleeves do not gel well with a tie. Besides, the cuffs should show under your coat sleeve.

•  Button your suit before entering the room. You may unbutton it as you take a seat. Remember to button it again when you stand to leave, leaving the bottom button unbuttoned.

•  According to business suits dress code, you should wear one pattern and two solids. So, your suit and shirt can be solid, and the tie striped or scantily patterned. Ensure that tie with a dimple just below the knot reaches the belt buckle.

•  Wear socks that match your suit and are long enough not to show any skin when you cross your legs.

•  Belt buckles should not be large and flashy.

•  Trousers should comfortably cover the socks when standing.

•  Keep your laced shoes well shined and in good repair.

10 Golden Tips to Look Suave

Clothes, since time immemorial, have been used besides covering our bodies as fashion statements. Dress codes existed then, and they exist now too. Here are some golden tips to make you look suave and debonair.

  1.  Short sleeve shirts and ties do not go together as a rule. If you are to wear tie, combine it with a long sleeve shirt. You either wear a short sleeve shirt or a tie – never team them.
  2. Even if you are a diehard fan of Michael Jackson, make sure that your trousers are long enough to cover your socks, gently falling on your shoes. Your socks should be high enough not to expose skin when you cross your legs.
  3. Never wear mismatched socks and trousers, if you wish not to have people staring at your ankles. Matching socks and trousers give an appearance of harmony.
  4. Your shoes may not be from a branded store, but they should be spotlessly clean and well polished. Have a few pairs, a pair for each occasion. Lace-up shoes go well with suits. Place shoetrees in unused shoes to maintain their shape.
  5. Belts and suspenders do not make good partners. Wear either of them. When you wear suspenders, make sure that you have a button fixed on the inside of the trousers. Metal clip suspenders are usually worn by people who wear ties with short sleeve shirts.
  6. The unwritten rule about belts is that they should go with your shoes, both in color and texture.
  7. When you wear a suit or a sports jacket, make sure that the bottom button, as a rule, is left unbuttoned.
  8. Your tie should have a dimple just under the knot.
  9. The tie should reach the belt line. Ties that fall short or cross over give a shoddy impression.
  10. When you are wearing a suit, do not stick a pen in your shirt pocket. Keep it inside the inner pocket of the coat.
